Do Boat Drain Plugs Leak

No boat is designed to take on water uncontrollably. However not every boat has a drain plug. When i pulled the boat out after the leak there was a tremendous amount of water that came out the black drain. Fortunately that isn t always the case.

Pic below of what i mean by my black. Boats that do not have a bilge pump are often the ones that have a drain plug. My best guess is that it is leaking around the housing that contains the drain plug. Very easy to do.

Drain plugs are highly important for boats that are not self bailing. I m not a real savvy boat guy always learning. It s trickling in around the drain plug.
