As part of our focus on expanding the dominion energy solar energy program our solar for students program provides students the chance to observe and learn firsthand about harnessing solar energy from a solar array.

Participating customers choose to purchase energy from solar facilities located in communities throughout virginia. Program participants then virtually use solar energy without needing solar panels installed on their home or business. That is enough energy to power about 550 000 homes at peak output. This innovative program provides an exciting way for dominion customers to contribute towards sustainable energy and add more solar power to virginia s grid.

The second rfp encourages the development of solar installations up to one megawatt in capacity including rooftop installations with a capacity of at least 50 kilowatts. The company will accept applications for the dominion energy solar for students program through december 6 2019 and announce the recipients during the first quarter of 2020. Rooftop solar is a clean renewable energy option if customers want to consume their own clean energy at their home.

Dominion s community solar program approved by virginia regulators the state corporation commission has approved dominion energy virginia s so called community solar pilot program under which the utility will offer its residential and commercial customers the output of solar farms to be built by independent solar developers here in virginia. Dominion energy will sponsor a solarbration at each location to kick off and showcase the project. Dominion energy currently has solar energy services in nine states. Solar energy is key to dominion energy s clean energy growth.

The voluntary program allows customers to purchase energy from new solar facilities located in communities throughout dominion energy virginia s service territory. Since 2013 we ve helped bring 2 200 megawatts mw of solar into operation in nine states. Participating public schools and educational organizations receive a 1 2 kilowatt solar system that converts sunlight into electric power as well as educational materials and training for educators. Solar installations will take place during the 2020 2021 school year.

The solar partnership program is a multi year pilot program launched in 2016.
