Door Sensor Alexa Routine

When the sensor changes to the state you specified on the routine the routine will automatically trigger.

You can then specify the actions for this routine as desired. You choose custom and type in what you want it to say. The contact and motion sensors are automatically populated in the alexa app. Open the alexa app and choose routines tap the plus sign and start a new routine.

Finally create a routine in the alexa app and on the when this happens choose device and then choose the new device. I attached sensors to the garage doors and tried to create a routine in alexa app but failed to achieve what i was looking for. You can even tell it which echo you want to speak. Next you just need to expose a binary sensor it can be a normal door sensor or even a template binary sensor to alexa and ask alexa to scan for devices.

Went into the alexa app and created a routine that says front door open whenever the door sensor is activated. What i thought was if the door sensor status is open at a certain point of time e g at 10 pm when i usually go to bed alexa can say the door is open. Scroll through and find the sensor you just. Choose when this happens and then on the next screen choose device.
